Blepharitis happens when your eyelids and eyelash follicles get inflamed and/or infected. While it’s non-contagious, it does affect patients of all ages and almost everyone will experience it at some point throughout their lifetime.

Most often, it is caused by continuous buildup of debris and bacteria. Other causes may also include allergies, dandruff, rosacea, acne, bacterial infections, and poor eye hygiene.

Your eye care provider will be able to diagnose Blepharitis during a comprehensive eye exam. Although there is no cure for the condition, effective management and proper hygiene can alleviate symptoms and prevent serious problems that could negatively impact your vision.
