At Heimer, Fiore, Turco Eye Care and Surgery, we have three exceptionally trained and skilled ophthalmologists, serving State College, Bellefonte, Tyrone, Lewistown, Huntingdon and beyond. Ophthalmologists are physicians who specialize in the medical and surgical care of the eyes and visual system, along with the prevention of eye disease and injury.
Our ophthalmologists provide a full range of care including eye exams, and the diagnosis and medical treatment of eye disorders and diseases. They also provide prescriptions for eyeglasses, eye surgery and the management of eye problems.
Dr. Jeffrey Heimer, Ophthalmologist
Dr. Heimer is a board-certified cataract surgeon. He is a life-long resident of State College, as well as a graduate of both Penn State and Hershey Medical School. He completed an internship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and an ophthalmology residency at University of Rochester, New York.
He has been serving the Centre region as an ophthalmologist and ophthalmic surgeon for more than 30 years, and he provides eye examinations, eye disease treatment and cataract surgery. He specializes in cataracts and uses the most advanced techniques to remove cataracts and implant advanced technology replacement lens.
Dr. Heimer works with your primary care physicians and optometrists in order to provide you with the best quality eye care.
Dr. Heimer is ranked in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 “America’s Best Ophthalmologists” list (curated by Newsweek), which features the top 150 ophthalmologists in the United States. Approximately 10,000 medical experts participated in an online survey to make their state nominations. He was selected, with high recommendations, due to his excellent continuity and quality of care.

Dr. Jay Fiore, Ophthalmologist
Dr. Fiore is a board-certified corneal specialist and cataract surgeon. He is a Penn State graduate and a native of Altoona, PA. He graduated from Temple University School of Medicine and completed his internship at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Fiore completed his residency training in ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center/State University of New York (SUNY) Stony Brooke Medical Center. After residency, he completed a surgical fellowship in cornea, anterior segment and refractive surgery.
As a cornea specialist, his interests include the treatment and surgical care of the cornea and lens utilizing the latest techniques and technology.

Dr. Domenic Turco, Ophthalmologist
Dr. Turco is a board-certified cataract surgeon. He is a native of Western Pennsylvania, born and raised in Kittanning. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at Washington and Jefferson College and then attended medical school at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
After an internship at the West Virginia University Hospitals, he went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the Ross Eye Institute of the University at Buffalo.
As a comprehensive ophthalmologist, he has interests in all aspects of medical and surgical eye care including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
